Determined to prove she’s fit for the family business, exorcist Jade Clarence knows the assignment waiting in Maine is her last chance. Born into a family of exorcists, Jade’s unorthodox ideas have gotten her into trouble in the past…and cost the life of a client.

After haunting a Maine state park for more than a century, Dutch Hutchinson will do whatever it takes to bring an end to his unfulfilling existence. When an act of arson brings a beautiful exorcist to town, Dutch takes corporeal form in order to spend his last hours in her company.

Jade quickly uncovers Dutch’s true identity and finds herself falling for the man behind the spirit. But when Jade’s legacy threatens their future, they will have to overcome the greatest of odds—life and death.

My Thoughts:
Usually I don’t get on well with short stories. I never feel like I get to know the characters enough. However Sarah is very good at making you feel like you have know this character for ever. She give a very detailed description of them. their personality as well as their appearance.

i instantly like jade. she was a girl who was different but longed for a normal life. After messing up big time she knew she had a lot of making up to do to her brothers. I felt her pain of growing up in a male dominant environment. I have five brothers myself and was always out numbered.

Dutch, he was a very lonely but sweet man. After haunting the park for such a long time Jade made him feel alive again. He couldn’t think of anyone better to spend his last hours with.

This was a great read which had an excellent ending it I did not see coming. I would love to have a sequel to this to see how the characters are getting on.

Dreams can come true – it could happen to you…For the past two years, Evie Taylor has lived an invisible existence in London, a city she hoped would bring sparkle to her life. But all that is about to change. For winter has brought a flurry of snow and unexpected possibilities. Hidden away in the basement of Hardy’s – once London’s most elegant department store – Evie manages the stockroom of a shop whose glory days have long since passed. When Evie overhears that Hardy’s is at risk of being sold, she secretly hatches a plan. If she can reverse the store’s fortunes by December 26th – three weeks away – and transform it into a magical destination once again, she might just be able to save it. But she’s going to need every ounce of talent and determination she has. In fact, she’s going to need a miracle.

My Thoughts:
This story is set in a classic British department store, which seems to have lost it sparkle. in it’s heyday it was the top store of it’s kind. Everyone loved Hardy’s.  we being on the 1st December and each chapter counts down to Christmas stating how many shopping days are left. I loved this. as each chapter passed my Christmas spirit increased. I absolutely LOVE Christmas and Christmas shopping. this store sounded like the kind of Christmas I used to watch in films. Films like Miracle on 34th Street.

I didn’t understand Evie at first. she seemed to be stuck in this dead end job and she wasn’t happy. None of the staff knew her actual name and just seemed to see her as someone to unload their problems on. I soon realised that Evie was a bit broken. After her ex unexpectedly dumped her she crumbled. she didn’t know what to do. By fading into the background she attempted to prevent herself from being hurt again. One day she decided she was fed up of being invisible and wanted to be noticed.

When she hears of the problems with the store and how they have 3 weeks to increase their profits or the store will close she just has to do something. this store means everything to her. When she was a child her parents would take her here every year and these trips meant the world to Evie. She just couldn’t face the thought of Hardy’s not being around any more. So she set about anonymously remaking parts of the store.

I don’t want to ruin the book too much but Evie’s little helpers are the best. I loved each and every one of them.

This book was excellent. A fantastic example of Christmas Chicklit at it’s best.  It has everything that will make you warm and fuzzy on a cold winter night. This has definately got me in the mood for Christmas.

Red-Christmas-decorations-christmas-22228015-1920-1200SO my favourite time of the year is soon approaching. Yes I’m talking about Christmas. I LOVE it. The food, the parties, the decorations, did I mention the food? Plus everyone is always in a better mood.  And with Christmas comes Christmas books! yes my favourite. I am very excited. So where do I look for my Christmas book news? Chicklit Chloe always has the most up-to-date news. I always get excited at this time of year and Chloe’s site is the first place I go to find all of this years releases. Which Christmas books are you most looking forward to? Personally its I heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk and Christmas at Claridges by Karen Swan.

I have decided this year that I am going to set myself  a Christmas Reading Challenge. I aim to read a minimum of 4 Christmas books before the end of the year. I have blog tours and a few other books to read before the year is out so I think this is a reasonable target. If i can read more then that will be excellent. Fancy joining in? I’ll be keeping you updated with my progress on my twitter account using #christmasreadingchallenge. signiture

2014 TBR Pile Reading Challenge

So here I was browsing through some of my favourtite blogs when I noticed this challenge.

We all have those books. We buy them, win them, they’re gifted to us.. Then we put them up on a bookshelf and there they stay, collecting dust, waiting for the time when we’ll finally decide to pick them up..” (Bookish)

I have a big tbr list. I well honestly is HUGE! The problem is everytime I read a good review or synopsis I want to buy the book. Then when certain book sellers *cough* Amazon *cough* have a daily deal, sales etc I just can’t help myself. I think oh it’s only 99p, and with the one-click setting its just too easy. I am hoping to read 20 books that are from 2013 or earlier. If possible I would love to read more but I fear life may get in the way so for now I will set my target at 20  and re-assess throughout the year.

If you want to join us in this challenge you can sign up here

Bookish will be hosting monthly Read-a-Long prizes for those of you who decide to join in with this. This year you can vote for which books are chosen for the Read-a-Longs.

On the 20th of each month they will post a wrap-up post, on Bookish. Every wrap-up will have it’s unique theme, a mini-challenge, a giveaway and place for you to link up your reviews from this monthFor each review you link up, you will get one entry in a drawing of one book of choice from Book Depository. It’s open to INTERNATIONALS. The giveaway will be open until the next wrap up post goes up! (i.e. the entire month)

All the book reviews you linked up January-November + the ones you’ll link up in December will be entered into a GRAND PRIZE giveaway

I can’t wait to start this challenge and I hope you will join in too.

Please note that I have now moved to please join me to see the reviews posted for this challenge.

Have you ever wondered what could be hiding in the shadows?

Well, for eighteen-year-old Zahara Faraday, she doesn’t have to wonder. You see she comes from a lineage of Light Witches, those who have chosen to help protect and serve between the supernatural world and the human world. The only problem is Zahara, like her father Solomon, is as human as a human being can be whereas her mother, Mia, and her Aunt Catalina, were born as Light Witches. As a family they hunt down rogue supernaturals—creatures who harm humans or who have committed an act against their kingdom.

Zahara’s hunting skills are usually kept dormant since her parents would prefer she live life as a normal human girl without knowledge of the supernatural world. She plans on doing just that—except when she finds a couple being attacked by fairies, she has no choice but to step in. Before she can return to pretending to be blissfully ignorant, Zahara encounters a problem she isn’t the least equip to handle: Bryan Hamilton, the good looking new co-worker she has to help train. In a heartbeat, her best friend, Becca King, has set her up on a double date with herself and her new crush, Rekesh Saint-Louis, who happens to be the most powerful leader of the biggest Imago Coven in South Florida –supernatural creatures with the ability to control water . . . and suck out human souls.

Zahara has no time to focus on how she’s going to explain her double date with her best friend and the enemy they have a tentative truce with to her parents because soon one of the members of Mia and Catalina’s coven is found murdered with a strange tattoo of a snake with wings carved into his arm.

Zahara is then thrown into a whirlwind battle with an angel determined to have revenge against God, an Imago coven she doesn’t think they should trust, and slew of dream-eating fairies and powerful Nephilims, hybrid children of angels and humans, more than happy to rip her to shreds.

Normal just got a deadlier definition.

“I love discovering new authors and can’t wait for more books by Annabell Cadiz, the writing was well crafted, and characters developed nicely with the plots twist and turns that just kept me hooked. This is a paranormal trilogy to look out for and get your hands on it asap!” ~Seeing Night Reviews

“Lucifer  has everything a good book should have: a kick ass heroine with an awesome best friend, hot guys that are seriously full of  hotness, epic fight scenes, and an ending that made me want to demand the author release the second installment  now!” ~Writing, Stuff and Nonsense

“First, I have to say CONGRATS to Annabell on her debut release! She has done a great job at writing a paranormal world where things are not always as they seem. Things go bump in the night and if you’re not careful they will bump into you. I have to say that I was thoroughly immersed in this story and I could not put it down. For all you paranormal lovers out there this is a must read to add to your list!” ~Kaidans Seduction

“It was an action packed adventure that had me on the edge of my seat many times throughout the book. The plot had action, supes, some romance, mystery, kick a**heroines, and an awesome cast of characters all masterfully woven together to give us a story unlike any other I have read. What an ending!” ~Crazy Four Books

“I really enjoyed this book. There is several different paranormal beings you get to see from Fairies, Angels, Witches and more. There is plenty of action going on. You never know when danger is going to appear in this book. I liked all of the characters even some of the bad ones. I will say there is lots of twist and turns and you never know what will happen. The ending I was surprised hugely by and it makes me crave the next book even more. I need to know what will happen next. I won’t give any spoilers but I will say expect the unexpected.” ~Racing To Read

Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-Thon Final Update

wonderfullywickedRAT2-228x300Hello everyone,

So what can I say I didn’t quite make it to finishing all three books but I did finish two out of three. I think I have to blame this on my school night drinking. Thursday was my CEO’s last day and leaving drinks which I attended and my have and a few drinks too many. I then felt awful on Friday and had to work. I did however solider on. I didn’t get too much reading done for either of those days. My parents also came to visit my new house today for the first time so between taking the kitten to the vet falling asleep in the afternoon for a few hours and cleaning I didn’t really have much time for reading on Saturday. Basically life got in the way. My plan is to read Miracle on Regent St next before my short story for my blog tour at the end of the month. Although I didn’t reach my target I did enjoy the Read A Thon and I think I will be setting my self a Christmas Book Challenge.
